Artist's Comments

The Amur Leopard is one of the most endangered animals on the planet. It is believed that there are only 30-40 still living in the wild. You see more people at the grocery store every day than the number of amur leopards that exist in the entire world in the wild.

It takes about 25 leopards to make one coat of leopard skins. Poaching and habitat loss have devastated this species.

SSPs, or species survival breeding plans for the leopard, are facing tremendous odds. This female leopard can make no contribution to her species' survival. Because her genetic history is unknown she cannot be bred; with such small populations still available for breeding, inbreeding and genetic complications are highly likely.

If you would like to try to help the amur leopard, I looked up some organizations that are trying to conserve the species. Please check them out and do what you can.

Great job bringing awareness to an important issue. I worked for the World Wildlife Fund for a short time and this issue has to be the most endearing, I hope this shot gets much publicity and that viewers check out your provided links. :D Great shot too.

That is awesome that you worked for the WWF! What did you do there?
Thanks, I hope it gets publicity too. It's really the only way I can contribute to conservation, and believe me I've been trying! haha

I actually did some fund-raising over the phones. People seemed to really respond to the Amur Leopard's plight. They're such an awesome animal. Discovery Channel Planet Earth series have a cool segment on them as well, the more awareness the better! Keep trying.:D

Oh wow that is really neat! You must know a lot about them then, anything you think I should add to the description? =P
I haven't seen the series, but I adore Planet Earth so I'll keep my eyes open for the segment!

You provided great information there, I love the line about seeing more people in the grocery store, nice.

The only thing I would add, is to mention something about the links. Maybe above them add, "Here are some great websights that give more information and provide an oppurtunity to help these endangered cats."
